But first I should share... growing up in Ontario, we had an in-ground pool. I spent hours with my friend in the water, out of the water, jumping back into the water. After a day of swimming my finger tips would be raw from the cement patio that rubbed on t skin. This week, as I used my new Wallis paper, I was reminded of the 'swimmer fingers' I used to have.
I blend the pastel with most of my fingers. I think this is a very appealing aspect to pastels. It is such a tactile application. I will often designate one finger to light colours, one to dark colours, and I use my pinky to blend lines... I know, until you try for yourself, this probably sounds a little odd. At any rate, this is what works for me ... BUT with the Wallis paper, I feel like I've been rubbing pastel into the 'cement patio' around my old pool. Infact I need to take a break from the studio just to give my tender little tips time to heal.
Incase this has stirred curiousity as to what I have been working on, well, I have a picture for you ... although maybe I should have taken a picture of my fingers instead.
